Lake Kipawa, a sportsman's paradise

Lake Kipawa, Quebec

Imagine a lake with close to two thousand kilometres of shoreline, countless islands and connecting bays, rugged rock shores, towering pines and clear, clean water. Lake Kipawa has a long history as a sportsman destination, but is still an unknown gem to many. Similar in landscape to the Temagami region of Ontario, Kipawa has been spared from development and remains a very wild environment. There are few private cottages on the lake, and a number of outfitters. A moratorium prevents the sale and development of land on the lake. A new national park, Reserve Opemikan, is proposed for the region, to further protect its shores.
